Sound Image & Space Statement

Here is the final completed outcome that I have produced for my sound image and space project that has been influenced by a New Zealand artist who distorts imagery using graphic techniques that presents a very interesting form of show casing imagery via using sequenced images and architectural video distortion effects. In producing this video I articulated the ideas to contrast across Daniels Crooks work that he manufactured as presented in my blog (Artistic Responses). The idea behind this filmed that I produced is to present an experience for people to understand the effects of how drugs and alcohol to over take a persons mind shown with the motions of the video effects used in the video. The video speaks for its self and broadcasts its own unique message to the viewer, as people may seem confused with what the video emphasizes, my message is to initiate drug use of young teenagers in New Zealand.

Through the process of this assignment, I developed many posters of drug users that i photographed for the project. Rather than using imagery and poster designs to convey messages, I thought of an idea of presenting a video that people can actually see the true effects of how marijuana (weed) plays on an individuals mind. The video begins with a character planning out the roll of lighting up bong presented on the small table in the video. He prepares the session (sessions meaning – rolling up the smoke to be inhaled) and then begins to light up and starts smoking the drug. As the video progresses, I added multiple plugin effects such as camera shake, to make the video seem as if it is real, RGB red green and blue colour splitter, this plug in made the video stand out perfectly because it showed a realistic visualisation of multiple colours that are moving in and out of each other which this effect happens in reality when you are under the influence. I wanted the colour grade for this video to be suttle with a high contrasted foreground to make the video stand out more then the initial video. The Video needed some form of music that can emphasize the idea of this project and to make a connection between the video its self and with the music. The theme of the two individual song artists ‘Wiz Khalifa’ and ‘A$AP Rockey’ links in perfect with this video, as the slow bass of each song represents my video well.
